Abstract For most of ferromagnetic meterials which have been known, their magnetism comes from metal ions. Since decamethyl ferrocenium tetracylenide was first reported by Miller in 1988, the study of ferromagnetic materials which their magnetism comes from the electron spins of organic compound began to attract much attention. The para nitrophenyl nitronyl nitroxide(P NPNN) of β phase is the first pure organic ferromagnetic compound. Raman spectrum is a strong tool to study molecular structure. When the conditions of environment are changed (for instance, temperature, pressure), the molecular structure of the β p NPNN compound could be changed, especially the temperature lies upper or under its Cure temperature. Up to now, no any report of the Raman spectrum about these materials has been published. In this paper, the Raman spectrum of β p NPNN at room temperature is first reported, and the vibration modes are assigned.
