The Begley-Legsdon correlation is employed for calculating planestrain fracture toughness K_(1c) from standard Charpy impact data andyield strength.Based on linear-elastic fracture mechanics and materialproperties of actual forgings,a conservative estimate of the critical flawsize is made.
