摘要
城市规划作为一门独立的学科，在国际上已有共识．联合国科教文组织于1974年公布的学科目录中，即将其列为29个独立学科之一．我国城市规划专业在建国以来的社会经济发展过程中已经发挥了重要的作用。在新形势下，城市规划对实现两个根本转变、对社会、经济、环境的可持续发展将继续起着重要作用，其专业独立性及必要性应是十分明确的．
This paper discusses the function and signincance of urban planning in China during pastdecades of years from liberation in 1949. It aIso stresses the Anportant functions anddependency and necessity of urban planning specialty in current social, economic andenvironmental sustainable development.
