Objective :To study variation of the volume of hippocampus in AD patients. Method: Thirty - five AD patients and twenty - five normal control subjects were performed on 3.0 T MRI in the study. We statisticsed the data of volume of their hippocampus, and contrasted the differences between the two. Result: The volume of left hippocampus in normal control subjects was 3. 006 ± 0. 335cm^3, the right was 3. 001 ±0. 341 cm^3 ,the volume of left hippocampus in the patients of AD was 2. 153 ±0. 380 cm^3 ,the right was 2. 146 ±0. 361 cm^3. There were significant differences between the patients of AD and the control subjects( P 〈0. 01 ). Conclusion: AD was found to have certain associativity with the abnormality of volume of hippocampus, and the study of it has value for clinical diagnosis of AD.
