he title compound(Ⅰ)containing two coumarin chromophores linked by polyethyleneglycol was synthesized. Its photodimerization process was also studied. The 1HNMR data of compound(Ⅰ)and its dimer(Ⅱ)indicates that the syn headtotail dimer is the only regioisomer. The kinetics of dimerization of compound(Ⅰ) was reported.
