广西人民政府早在70年代就开始重视重晶石的出口与生产，从资源勘探工作做起，积极配合外贸部门，确定合乎质量要求的产品规格，来保证资源的合理利用；针对本地特点积极扶持乡村采矿。并加强技术指导，采取有效措施防治环境污染；近几年又加强了市场管理，制止了滥采乱挖与税费流失，效果良好。1996年生产重晶石173万t，出口110万t．创汇超过3500万美元。
From the 1970s, the People's Government of Guangxi Province has been paying attention to barite production and export by explorating barite resources, laying down production standards up to quality requirements to make rational use of re-sources. Sustaining and guiding village mines and taking effective measures to prevent environment pollution. Recent years, the gov-ernment has strengthened barite's market management. Prevented excessive and disordered mining and stopped loss of taxes. In 1990, barite ou put and export are 1. 73 and 1. 10 million tons re-spectively, the foreign exchange earnings exceeds 35 million dol-lars.
