The adsorption of phenol and P chlorophenol from aqueous solution onto activated carbon made from coal was studied.The adsorption isotherms have been measured at different temperatures.The standard changes of free energy,enthalpy and entropy in adsorption processes have been calculated from the Langmuir parameters.The results thus obtained idicate that the value of ΔS θ is positive and it′s the main driving force of adsorption.At low temperatures,the molecules of phenol and p chlorophenol may be adsorbed in different adsorption mechanisms.
