This paper analyzes operating principles, types, characteristics, precision of vibrating wire sensors as well as factors affecting the long-range stability of vibrating wire sensors, and presents their prac- tical applications in Tianjin pile foundation underpinning in order to supply references to the monitoring of underground engineering and pile foundation underpinning.
