古树名木是一座濒危物种的基因库和优质种源,素有"绿色活化石"、"绿色活文物"的美誉,是一笔独特的、不可代替、不可再生的绿色文化遗产,它具有重要的人文与科学价值。东莞的古树名木既是东莞文明史的写实,又是东莞的先人留给后人的无价的绿色文化遗产,它反映了东莞乡土阔叶植物中最优秀的基因种群,对东莞的历史文化、环境变迁、植物分布等具有重大的研究价值。文章叙述了东莞古树名木保护概况并其保护措施。
Old tree is not only natural heritage, but also eugenic gene resource of nature. It is a ＂Green Life Fossil＂ for the history, and ＂Green Heritage＂ to the human.
