Long-term trends have seen major demographic shifts away from cohorts that purchase American brand cars and trucks. The older generations of die-hard American car buyers are fading, and the Baby Boomer generation is simply not interested. This bodes ill for the Detroit Three's fortunes, unless they can capture the interest of the next big generation: Generation Y.
