The upper reaches of the Minjiang River has been a migratory passage of ethnic groups since ancient times. A number of Barbarians entered the region and were very active from 3rd to 6th centuries. But now the academia attaches inadequate importance to the historical facts of the activities of the Hu people living in the region. Based on the analysis of the related historical records, this paper systematically summarizes the Hu people' s activities in the upper reaches of the Minjiang River in the era of Wei, Jin and Southern and Northern dynasty, and points out that the Hu people' s entry played an important role in Opening up the Minjiang River Passage which connected the Western Regions and the Southern Dynasties at that time in the land communication.
