以十字军东征为契机,意大利城市国家经济开始迅速发展,约自13世纪末期起开始全面繁荣。14和15世纪时,意大利地中海沿岸的某些城市国家出现了资本主义生产关系的萌芽。进入16世纪后,欧洲商业中心转移到了大西洋沿岸,意大利城市国家经济日趋衰弱。16世纪中后期,意大利城市国家经济虽再度繁荣,但不久又趋衰弱。
Using the crusade as a turning point, the economy of Italy city-countries developed rapidly. And perhaps from the 13th century their economy wholly prospered. During the 14th and 15th centuries, capitalist productive relations bud emerged in some cities along the coast of Italy Mediterranean Sea. After stepped into the 16th century, the European commercial centre transferred to the coast of the Atlantic, and the economy ot Italy city-countries began to decline. In the middle and later 16th century, the economy of Italy city-countries re-prospered again, but declined shortly followed
