Through describing various black people's destinies, Toni Morrison, in her novel the bluest eye, pays deep attention to the displacement problem among the black individuals under the invasion of the white mainstream culture. The problem is mainly symbolized by physical broken images. The following passage, through analyzing different figures in the novel, expresses the dual implications of the images: it means not only displacement but also its rebellion. Under rebellion, Toni Morrison puts forth the feasible strategies for the black individual, especially the black woman, to reconstruct their identity, namely, to obtain their discourse power and destroy the white mainstream culture myth.
