去年,国务院新闻办公室委托中国出版科学研究所开展了"中国主题图书在主要发达国家出版情况的调研",对中国主题图书在美、英、法、德、日、俄、西班牙等7个国家、6个语种的出版情况进行了全面调研,调研内容包括选题特点、作者(译者)情况、主要出版机构等,发布了《中国主题图书在主要发达国家的出版情况概述》的报告。报告中的"中国主题图书"主要是指国外出版的与中国有关的图书,其中包括哲学、社会科学、自然科学、综合性图书,以及中国领导人著作、生平、传记等主题。报告中所有的书目数据来源主要有两部分:一是中国国家图书馆从1996年至该调研进行时收藏的国外出版的共计1.3万余种的中国主题图书;二是各国主要的网上书店,美、英、法、德、日等国亚马逊网站公开的书目数据。该调研报告不仅较为全面、详尽地描述了中国主题图书在主要发达国家的出版情况,发现了我国出版的中国主题图书进入国际市场的困难,还介绍了主要发达国家图书出版业"走出去"的做法与现状,为我国出版的中国主题图书走进主要发达国家的主流市场提出了一些建设性意见和建议。经国务院新闻办三局授权,本刊独家选载报告的部分内容,与业界同仁共飨。本刊郑重声明:以下所有转载内容,未经国务院新闻办三局再授权和本刊同意,任何单位和个人均不得转载使用。
In recent decade, historical geography and literature are main subjects of China-themed books in the international market, and then philosophy and religion, pohtics and law. Famous writers of China-themed books in foreign countries are mostly local people, then overseas Chinese; few are from mainland of China. Although different countries share much commonness in subjects, orientations and various author resources, main China-themed book publishers still have their own features. Publishers in China run into bottle-necks when exporting this kind of books: Firstly, subjects are limited, which makes books difficult to get into the international market; secondly, lack of international writers; thirdly, lack of multi-abilities authors and translators. During a short time, stepping in the international market won't be a necessity to the development of the publishing industry. But, government's function and role in this case would become really important. So publishers should select the right subjects, choose and train their own authors, and then cooperate with a right enterprise. Contents' “Going out”, then authors', publications' and publishing enterprises' taking part in international competition, and finally making Chinese culture and thoughts understood by the whole world -this is a long-term project, for which we have to implement the “Going out” strategy all round Step by step.
