摘要
偏振保持光纤是利用高双折射光纤的特性,使两个偏振模之问在传输过程中不易耦合,维持偏振态的稳定。目前一般通过应力致偏的方法使光纤芯内部产生高的双折射,而这种高双折射主要是由于光纤内不同材料的热膨胀系数差产生的内应力而形成,其机理满足于光弹效应。因而对应力致偏型高双折射保偏光纤的结构设计提出较高的要求。本文主要是对新型“1”字型细径偏振保持光纤的结构设计及工艺制备方法进行研究。
Polarization maintaining fibers (PMFs) can maintain polarizations stabilization by using characteristic of the difficult polarized modes coupling in high-birefringence fiber propagation. Now the high-birefringence is produced by the methods of stress acting on the core region, the stress birefringence is formed because the different thermal coefficients of the materials cause internal stress to fiber core and the stress-birefringence relation satisfies stress-photoelastic effect. Then it is necessary to design the structure of stress birefringence fiber. Structure design and fabrication of a novel structure character-1 shaped reduced diameter polarization maintaining optical fiber are studied in this paper.
