《死者》是二十世纪著名的爱尔兰作家詹姆斯.乔伊斯早期的短篇小说集《都柏林人》的压轴之作。《都柏林人》以爱尔兰首都为背景,描绘了20世纪初都柏林市井百姓、社会生活的"精神瘫痪"状态,试图揭示爱尔兰社会的精神症结,唤起民族意识。"精神瘫痪"在《都柏林人》一书中贯穿始终。本文探讨"精神瘫痪"这一主题在《死者》中的体现及其意义。
The Dead is the final and best -known one of James Joyce＇ s collection of short stories, Dubliners. As a famous Irish novelist in the 20th century, James Joyce described the serious paralysis spread all over the city Dublin, in the purpose of awakening the paralytic people of his country. ＂Paralysis＂ is the central theme of Dubliners. Through an analysis of the characters of the Dead, this paper comments on the theme ＂paralysis＂ of the story.
