摘要
介绍了基于Internet地理信息系统的基本特点和ArcIMS(Internet Map Server)的体系结构、服务器端的逻辑及物理层次、客户端的基本功能,使开发者对ArcIMS的特征功能、体系结构及应用ArcIMS开发WebGIS有更深一层的认识.主要论述了基于Java浏览器开发WebGIS的基本思想和方法及其功能的可扩展性,最后,以房地产交易管理信息系统为开发实例说明,用Java Viewers开发定制WebGIS具有更快、更容易、更方便、功能更强大等优点.
The paper describes basic characteristics of GIS, system architecture of ArcIMS, logical and physical layers of server and basic functions of client base on internet. The developers can further know the characteristics, functions of ArcIMS （Internet Map Server） and WebGIS development technique on ArcIMS, the paper discusses the extensible functions and development method with Java viewers developing WebGIS. With the instance of real estate trade management information system development, it explains using Java viewers developing and customizing WebGIS has many merits, such as faster, easier, more convenient and powerful functions.
