Centering round the Chinese revolutionary novels in the 1950s -60s, this paper expounds on various kinds of characters in the revolutionary novels of that period, esp. the aesthetic features of the hero characters. This paper attempts to explore how the fictitious features of various characters in revolutionary novels have conformed to the ideology of that age and to analyze the self-contradiction in the revolutionary characters caused by various ideological factors. It is concluded in the paper that though the revolutionary characters in revolutionary literature of the 1950s - 60s are portrayed in the most revolutionary and the "purest" manner, there are still latent conflicts and disputes stemming from various ideologies, which has led to the inherent paradoxical structure of the revolutionary characters.
