The benzylation was taken place between 2-furylacetonitrile and benzyl bromide, а - benzyl - 2-furylacetonitrile and а, а-dibenzyl - 2-furylacetonitrile were obtained under the conditions of benzyltriethylanmmonium chlolide as phase transfer catalyst and sodium hydroxide as base.
