摘要
可持续发展是当前和２１世纪经济发展的主题和方向．合理利用资源、保护生态平衡是实现可持续发展的必要手段．从西北地区自然条件和经济特点出发，论述了可持续发展的内涵。
Sustainable development is the theme and direction of economic development in China now and 21st century.Sustainable development in Northwest areas exist some handicaps. Further researches may help us to follow the right way of sustainable development.Environment characteristics and economy traits in Northwest China was analysed.
