A new concept, micro catalysis, is suggested in life science. The effective components, saponins, in panax ginseng, are separated. CNDO/2 LMO quantum chemical calculations are carried out for a major saponin unit, ginseng panaxdiol. The primary results indicated that losing hydrogen ion ( H + ) from the carbon atoms with fine geometric adaptability, especially from hydroxyls, of panaxdiol is in favor of energy. The two hydroxyls maybe, as a proton acid donor, play an important role in micro catalysis of life processes.
