Striped field mouse (Apodemus agrarius)is one of the main pest rodent of the cropland. This study was aimed at determing the influence of cat odors which derived from cat's urine and fur on the behavior of the striped field mouse. We also investigated the efficacy of the two odor sources, and found that the two odor sources both can influence the behaviors of the mouse. The self-grooming, feeding and attacking behaviors all decreased at different levels, but the influence of concealed behavior and exploration were not obvious. Different odor sources had different efficacy. Fur-derived predator odors may have a more profound lasting influence on striped field mouse than those derived from urine. These results indicate that cat odors could influence the behaviors of the striped field mouse and the mouse had ability to assess the predation risk and adjust their behaviors according to the degree of the risk.
