非常感谢《世界建筑》给我这个机会通过这篇文章从密斯凡·德罗奖看欧洲的建筑状况，并且广泛地谈一谈建筑师在工程中所扮演的角色，文章还追溯了巴塞罗那馆及其建设过程，末尾简要地介绍了奖项的缘起以及在1980年代创立这个奖项的幕后工作者们。
I would like to take the opportunity that World Architecture magazine offers me to write this article to reflect about the European architecture that the Mies van der Rohe Award represents and about the role of the architect In general; about the Mies van der Rohe - Barcelona pavilion and its reconstruction; and, finally dedicate a few lines to the genesis of the Award and the people who were behind this fruitful initiative, back in the mid 1980s.
