摘要
霍桑的短篇小说《小伙子古德曼.布朗》中主人公布朗为了履行与魔鬼的约定而进行了一次森林之行,其实这是他为了探索人性世界真相的一次精神之旅。而从清教主义原罪论来看,这次旅行注定是痛苦的,因为他发现了人心深处的黑暗与罪恶。那么,死亡是否是他获得救赎的方式?这渗透着霍桑对清教主义观的认识。
In Nathaniel Hawthome＇s short novel Young Goodman Brown, the hero Brown made a journey to forest in order to carry out his promise with the evil, actually, this is a spiritual journey for exploring the truth of human world. From the angle of original sin of Puritanism, this journey made him agony because he found the darkness and sin in the deep heart of human beings, as a result, whether death is the way to rescue him contains Hawthorne＇s consciousness about Puritanism perspective.
