As I lay Dying was written by William Faulkner in 1930, which is a novel concerning the conflict between modem pragmatic ethic and traditional ethic. The author uses the narrative techniques such as multi - narrators, stream of consciousness, and double - voices to represent the reality that traditional ethic is gradually replaced by modem pragmatic ethic.
