在以贾宝玉为轴心的情恋姻缘关系中,小姐里宝玉爱的是黛玉,丫鬟里宝玉爱的却是袭人。宝玉对袭人的爱主要体现在:同袭人的关系格外亲密;能像关注黛玉那样关注袭人;在对待袭人与对待晴雯、宝钗、湘云态度异同的比较上宝玉更看重的是袭人。宝玉和黛玉之间的情缘是一种理想的前世仙界情缘;宝玉和袭人之间的情缘是一种温暖的今生世俗情缘。
