摘要
作为近代著名的教育家,蔡元培在北京大学及任中华民国教育部长期间,开办平民夜校,提倡普及义务教育、男女同校,积极推动了中国近代平民教育事业的发展。其教育思想及实践,开创了近代中国普及教育的先河,具有重大的时代意义。
As a famous educator in contemporary China, during the period of working in Beijing university and occupying the Minister of education in Republic of China, Cai Yuanpei run civilian night school, advocated popular compulsory education and boys and girls attending the same school, actively boosted the development of civilian education in contemporary China. His practice and thought of education is the forerunner of popular education in contemporary China, which have significant meaning under present context.
