Biochemical substance of Trichtnella spiralis larva in mouse diaphragmatic muscle were inves-tigated by histochen1ical techniques.Five Kunming strain mice were inoculated with 610±10 Henan strain larvae of T.spiralis per mouse andwere killed in 7.5 months after infection, the diaphragmatic muscle was taken for histochemical exaininations. The results showed that the T.spiralis larva contained glycogen,DNA,RNA,protein bound α-aminogroups,protein bound tyrosine, tryptophan and histidine, alkaline protein, lipid, acid mucopolysaccharide,amy-loid substance, hyaline substance, collagenous and reticular fiber elements,AKP,ACP and ATPase. The loca-tion,content and activity of above biochemical substances were described as the follows:A heavy deposits of glycogen were found in muscular layer of muscle larva, moderate content or a little inthe cytoplasm of the other cells. Both the DNA and RNA were mainly located in nucleus, but very rich in gen-ital primordium. As to the protein bound amino acid groups and protein of muscle larva, which were chieflydistributed in nucleus, genital primordium and muscular layer, but richer content was observed in genital pri-mordium.The collagenous and reticular fiber element were mainly situated in cuticle and subcuticle of larva, and both had very rich content respectively. Activities of AKP,ACP and ATPase of muscle larva were almostmainly limited in cuticle and genital primordium, but strongger activity was seen in cuticle than in genital pri-mordium. The content of lipid, acid mucopolysaccharide, amyloid substance and hyaline substance was almostinvestigated a little in muscular larva of T.spiralis.The physiological significance of histochemical elements in muscle larva of T.spiralis mentioned abovewas discussed briefly.
