The present paper is a report of the discovery of Nuia in China. The specimens were collected from the Ershilipu Subformation of The Wumishau Formation in Jixian County, Tianjin. Black banded cherts extensively developed in this Subtormation contain abundant Nuia which is well preserved and variable in form. Nnia pelucidus sp. nov. is identified.
The present discovery provides new data about the geological and geographical distribution of this genus.

Diagnosis Curved siliceous tubes, having a distinctive dark central canal. Central canal composed of cryptocrystalline quartzin, wall composed of hyaline microquartz, radially arranged around the central canal, Walls two-layered, arranged concentri-cally or eccentrically. Tubes across are ovoid, spindle, and subspherical. Tube 1000μm in length; outer walls have a short diameter of 80—280μm, averaging 196μm(N=10)and a long diameter of 163—415μm, averaging 276μm(N=10). Central canal has a short diameter of 35-150μm averaging 79μm(N=10)and a long diameter of 50—300μm, averaging 159μm(N=10).
Comparison In general morphology, the specimen is similar to that of Nuia siberica Maslov, 1954, from the Ust'Suite(Lower Ordovician)of Irkutsk Provinces Siberia, U. S. S. R. But as the central canal is large in size and outer walls are thinner. it is different from the known species of the genus.
