Agglomeration Impact on Productivity Discrepancy of Manufacturing Industries among Big Cities in China

摘要本文以我国34个大型及特大型城市为样本，分析了聚集经济对城市间制造业劳动生产率的影响。结果显示，聚集经济确实是导致中国大型城市间制造业劳动生产率差异的重要因素，而且地方化经济的影响远大于城市化经济；对于消费地指向型、技术与规模指向型及不定指向型制造业，聚集经济的影响存在明显的行业间差异和东、中、西部的区域差异。 We take cross - sectional data on manufacturing industries from 34 major cities of China in 2003 for analysis, in order to reveal the influence of agglomeration on manufactory productivity, The results verify that agglomeration really accounts for the discrepancy of productivity among the big cities, and the influence of localization economies is more prominent than that of urbanization economies. In addition, the impact of agglomeration on productivity varies among different sectors of manufactory industries and among west, middle and east China as well.
