Abstract In this article the relationship between sustainable development and cleaner production is discussed interms of theory. The author deems that sustainable development as a completely new strategy of the globaldevelopment is realized by m￣nd after paying high economic and environmental prices. Cleaner production is the only way to achieve the goal of sustainable development. It not only transforms traditional production mode into a new one of resource saving and comprehensively utilization, but also change the management of environment pollution from end - of- pipe (EOP) control to prevention of production process.It can be said that cleaner production is specific reflection of sustainable development strategy.
