摘要
不论城市性质如何,综合性城市地图集的功能在主要方面应该是一致的。编图的基本原则是必须系统体现影响城市发展的条件和城市地理要素的独特性及区域差异性。以《上海市地图集》为例阐述选题应符合图集的目的和任务,强调实用性,而不应当是所有专题研究成果的简单相加或任意取舍。
All synthetic city atlases should be uniform in their main functions regardless of the different nature of the cities they represent. The basic principle for map compilation requires that the factors influencing the city development and the uniqueness of city geographic elements and regional difference should be systematically expressed. Taking for example the Atlas of Shanghai, this paper elaborates on the conformity of the selection of contents to the objectives of the atlas and the practicality of the atlas offected by the contents selection, while negating the simple addition or arbitrary choice of all research findings as a feasible way of contents selection.
