摘要
历史上华侨在厦门的投资是伴随着厦门近代城市的形成不断发展起来的。从1871-1949年的79年间,华侨在厦门及其附近的泉州、漳州等地的投资为1.28亿元人民币(建国初价格),约占同期华侨在福建投资的92%。华侨在厦门及其周边地区投资最多的是房地产业,约占总投资额的46%,其他投资领域依次为工业、商业、交通业、农矿业和金融业。华侨在厦门的投资符合当时厦门作为归侨、侨眷聚居的消费型城市的各种需求,对厦门现代城市规模的形成发挥了重要作用,也使厦门近代的发展具有自己的特色。
The investment of overseas Chinese in Xiamen developed with the forming of the modem Xiamen City. During the period from 1871 to 1949, overseas Chinese invested in Xiamen and its nearby areas such as Quanzhou and Zhangzhou 128 millions RMB （value of the early People＇s Republic of China）, which took up 92% of the total investment by overseas Chinese in Fujian at that time. The investment was concentrated upon real estate （46%）, industry, commerce, transportation, agriculture ＆ mining and finance. The investment met at the time the need of Xiamen, a consumer-city with many retumed overseas Chinese and the relatives of overseas Chinese, thus played an important role in the forming of Xiamen City and built up the unique character of Xiamen.
