The 1960s is the golden period for American higher education. Yet it was also contemporary with the student rebellion in universities and colleges. Inspired by the Anti-Vietnam War Movement and the Civil Rights Movement, the students addressed social, political, cultural and educational injustices in American society through various types of protests. To a certain extent, student activism in the 1960s promoted reforms and multi-culturalism in American higher education. It also pushed the university to reexamine itself and its relationship with government and society.
