摘要
圣地亚哥·卡拉特拉瓦是代表建筑艺术与结构技术融合的西班牙籍世界建筑大师，他曾设计过许多的桥梁和建筑工程，并以其独特优美的桥梁形式为两岸风光增添了更为动人的篇章。如果用建筑是凝固的音乐来形容这位大师的作品，那么我们还应发现在那些如音乐般自由地流动的建筑诗篇背后，是对材料、对技术、对自然规律和人文与社会等精确的把握。本文以卡拉特拉瓦1997年在麻省理工学院演讲的第二个题目；“力与形式”为题，讲述大师在一系列的桥梁设计过程中如何进行思考的过程。
Santiago Calatrava is a world famous architect of Spain, he belongs to the very seldom that can Combine architecture and engineering design in their working career. Some of the bridge he had designed become beautiful scenery across the banks of rivers. If we call architecture a kind of concreted music, his design must be one part of them., but we should find out how he can grasp the material and technology and principles of nature and human society before he designed such beautiful shapes of bridges. In 1997, Calatrava went to MIT to give a lecture which in the second part he called it with the topic of ＂force and form＂ he introduce some conception of his design.
