American Exceptionalism and the Origin of the Global Expansion of American Culture

摘要 “美国例外论”在美国白人文化中具有深刻的历史和宗教根源,这使美国白人在地球上具有一种特殊使命,即有义务或有责任“拯救”世界于水深火热之中,最终以美国独特的文化模式完成对全球的重塑,使处于异文化场景下的社会逐渐“趋同”于美国的发展模式。“美国例外论”在美国主流文化中根深蒂固,对美国人处理与外部世界的关系产生了很大的影响,在很大程度上成为美国文化向全球扩张的意识形态根源。 American exceptionalism has deep historical and religious origins in American white culture. It makes the American whites feel that they have a special mission on earth, namely, they have an obligation or responsibility to save the world from an abyss of suffering, to re-mold global society with the unique American culture, and to make all other societies of different cultural backgrounds follow the American model. Deeply rooted in American mainstream culture, American exceptionalism has greatly affected the way in which Americans deal with the external world, and to a great extent it is the ideological origin of American global cultural expansion.
