This experiment aims to study the significance of unbalance of endothelial mediators resulting from damage and dysfunction of endothelial cells in coronary heart disease (CHD).NO 2 (metabolite of NO),endothelin (ET) and circulating endothelial cells(CEC) were observed in the peripheral blood of 48 patients with coronary heart disease.It was found that the mean serum NO (μg/L) of CHD patients was significantly lower than that of the control subjects (0 5007±0 3038 vs .1 10675±1 2928, P <0 01);the mean ET and CEC were significantly higher in CHD patients than in control subjects (ET 166 385±59 795 vs . 56 584±6 388, P <0 01,CEC 12 5±3 8 vs . 3 5±0 49, P <0 01) and were in consistent with the severity of CHD.NO was negatively correlated with ET.It proved that there existed damage of EC and unbalance of endothelial mediator.Our results showed that the changes of CEC,NO and ET were involved in the course of CHD,and the parameters might be improved by captopril administration.
