Abstract 190 Landes geese of weight about 2.4kg each were used to study the effects of diets containing different crude fiber levels ( 4%, 8%, 12% ) with equal energy and protein on bird growth performance, dressed performance and partial blood biochemical indexes. 10 gooses were killed for checking dressed performance before experiment, and other 180 birds were divided into three treatments by sex and fed for 4wks, three repeats per treatment and 20 birds per repeat. Rice hull meal was selected as the main fiber sources in the test diet. The results show that: (1) Diet containing crude fiber of 8% gives the top growth performance, differs significantly (p 〈0.05). (2) Further increase of dietary fiber exhibits significant effect on serum indexes including total cholesterol ( TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein (LDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), ApoB, high density lipoprotein (HDL), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), amylase (AL), glutamate- pyruvate transaminase (GPT) and glutamicoxalacetic transaminase (GOT) (p 〈 0.05 ), as well as on dressed performance (p ~ 0.05 ), but no significant effects on urea acid (UA), urea (UR), glucose (GLU), and total protein (TP) (p 〉0.05) . (3) High fiber level diet leads to a drawn poultry of lower adipose tissue. VLDL may be a limiting factor for lipid synthesis in the Landes goose.
