This article has summarized the history of development,the present situation and the future development of the aeronautical mobile satellite system(AMSS)communication.It has stressed that AMSS which includes automatic dependent surveilled that AMSS which includes automatic dependent surveillance(ADS)is the crux in overcoming the defect of high frequency(HF)communication,and solving air-ground(A/G)communication and surveillance at marine and distant land areas.The article has also introduced the experiments and demonstration of global AMSS in the past years,with system availability and its developing prospects elaborated,and with the global plan transiting to AMSS as well as China's related intention of implementation briefly explained.
