摘要
索绪尔的语言符号任意观在语言学界一直被争论不休,现在语言学家们一般认为语言符号既有任意性,也有非任意性,但对该原则的适用范围仍存在较大分歧。我们认为,任意性原则适用于解释符号的省义之间的联系,它对于解释人类语言千差万别的现象。
Saussure＇ s view that linguistic symbol is arbitrary was controversial in linguistic field. Linguists in recent years generally agree that linguistic symbol is non-arbitrary as well as arbitrary, but they disagree about the application scope. The writer of this paper believes that the principle of arbitrariness is suitable for explaining the relationship between sound and meaning. It provides forceful evidence for explaining the phenomenon of the great differences among human languages.
