The cause of the built-up of static electricity and the methods to remove the harm of the static electricity and electrostatic discharge are described, putting stress on the mechanism of surface modification by plasma treatment and factors having effect on the modification by plasma. Moreover, the reasons for improving the antistatic property of PMMA by plasma treatment are expounded briefly.
