China, being the home of porcelain and tea, attributes its long history to the tea culture that draws on the essence from the Confucianists, Taoists and Buddhists. The combination of Ji-Zhou black glazed porcelain with tea carried forward the Chinese culture. In both Tang and Song dynasties, the Buddhist monks from Japan arrived in China to conduct religious exchange, and brought back to Japan the tea culture and the Chan sect, especially the techniques of making Ji-Zhou black glazed porcelain, which not only resulted in the formation of Japan' s unique tea-pottery culture after a-long-time digestion, assimilation and fusion, but also witnessed the traditional good relationship between the Sino-Japanese peoples.
