摘要
早在1936年,在伦敦出版的《现代中国诗选》一书,就收了卞之琳14首诗的英文翻译,那都是他自己译的。后来,在不同的时候,他曾把自己的其他一些诗译成英文,发表在不同的地方。在把自己的诗译成英文时,卞之琳更多地显现了他的诗人本色,随意、洒脱、变化甚至放纵,以意译为主。他对自己诗歌的英译不作“亦步亦趋”的严格要求,至少不如他对外国诗歌的汉译要求那么高。
Early in 1936, the book ＂Modern Chinese Poetry＂ published in London, contained 14 poems of Bian Zhilin （Pien Chih lin） translated by the poet himself. Later, in different periods of history, Bian translated some other poems of himself into English and published them in various periodicals. In his own English translations, Bian shows more of his nature as a poet. The translation is random, free, easy and even overindulging. His attitude toward his own English translation is not so strict as that toward his Chinese translation of foreign poems.
