ODP(Open Distributed Processing)is the trendency of distributed computing,which is a new technology to solve the distributed software interface problems. Its goal is to define a framework of distributed systems to achieve portability,interoperatability,and distribution transparency. This paper presents the main characteristics of open distributed processing. The Reference Model of Open Distributed Processing RM-ODP and some support environments for ODP are also introduced.
