摘要
大学图书馆是高等教育的衍生物,是公认的精神和学术殿堂。从其精神实质而论,本文认为,除去对读者提供知识性帮助外,理想的中国大学图书馆还应是有生命的、能抚慰心灵的、可激发思考的,并且是读者与前人智慧对话的处所。在这个意义上,大学图书馆人有责任把图书馆建设成天堂而非地狱。
University Library is a ramification given birth by higher education, which, as has been commonly accepted, is an institution boasting its spiritual and academic storehouse. Taking its spiritual essence into consideration, this paper holds that the ideal university librnry in China should he such that it not only can supply spiritual food and intellectual accommodation, but also is animate, conciliatory inspiring; what＇s more, it can be a location for the reader to discourse with predecessors. In a word, presidents, curators and librarians in China＇s universities have the responsibilities to make the library something like a oaradise.
