An econetwork emphasizing the interaction between compartments in ecosystem is a structural model that simulate the flow of matter or energy in ecosystems. The information analysis of econetworks is a method to investgate the holistic properties dependent on the interaction between compartments by the exchange of matter or energy in terms of information theory. The methods and concepts of econetwork information analysis are systematically elucidated,and a typical ecosystem is analyzed in detail.
