摘要
ESP教学在我国高校中开设有十多年了,但由于种种原因,其教学效果一直不够理想,科研也停滞不前。随着其替代品——双语教学的兴起,ESP教学日益萎缩,正面临退出高等教育舞台的危险。目前制约我国ESP教学的因素主要有三个:1)缺乏有关部门的重视;2)师资配备不当;3)教学体系混乱。要解决这些问题,首先必须加强对ESP教学和双语教学的语言学理论研究。其次,必须纠正师资配备不当问题,让英语教师来承担教学任务,并加强教师的培训和促进教师之间的交流。
Although ESP teaching has been practised in tertiary educational institutions for more than a decade, its effectiveness has been fat from satisfactory and related researches have also lagged behind. With the popularization of its altemative-billngual instruction, the number of ESP courses increasingly declines and now they ate confronted with the danger of being eradicated in the high educational system of our country. Based on careful analysis, this article holds that three factors mainly affect the development of ESP instruction negatively in our country. They ate: 1) Lack of sufficient administrative concern; 2) Misplacement of teachers; 3) A chaotic ESP instruction system. To solve these problems, a series of measures must be taken. Firstly, more linguistic researches must be done to both ESP teaching and bilingual instruction to attract attention of the national educational administration. Next, misplacement of teachers must be corrected to improve effectiveness, that is, English teachers shoed be given the responsibility of ESP teaching.
