摘要
红宝石和蓝宝石具有韧性强、硬度高、裂理发育、颜色丰富、透明度变化大、多色性明显、折射率高、星光和猫眼效应等独特的加工性质。从红、蓝宝石的加工性质和品种分类出发,阐述了其加工工艺要求,着重探讨了刚玉宝石琢型设计-分割-预型-琢磨-抛光等重要环节中的技巧。从定向、琢型、比例、对称程度和抛光修饰度等方面探讨了刚玉宝石的切工质量评价标准。
Ruby and sapphire have particular fashion properties such as strong toughness,high hardness, developed parting, abundant colours, variable transparency, obvious pleochroism, high refractive index, cat＇s-eye effect and asterism etc. On the basis ot the systematical fashion properties and variety classifications of ruby and sapphire, the technical requirements are elucidated. The skills in the lashing of corundum including cut designing, dividing （sawing）, preforming （shaping）, cutting （faceting） and polishing are studied emphatically. At last, the appraising standards of the cut quality of gem corundum are probed from the aspects of orientation, shape of cut, proportion, symmetry and polish.
