萨克雷是19世纪英国的一位伟大的批判现实主义作家,《名利场》是他的代表作品之一。在这部小说中,叙述者与读者之间展现了一种新的视野,文章的主要目的是研究叙述者在《名利场》的功能以及它对作品产生的各种影响,主要从指导、交流、证明、意识形态等四方面入手,分析了《名利场》中叙述者的功能。
William Makepeace Thackeray was an outstanding critical andrealistic English writer in the 19th century. Vanity Fair is his masterpiece. This thesis focuses on the analysis of the functions of the narrator in Vanity Fair and makes an analysis of the four functions of the narrator： the directing function, the function of communication, the testimonial function and the ideological function.
