This paper, through the studies of three metropolises (Beding, Shanghai and Guangzhou) puts toward the approach of mega-cities in our urban and mral development planning and make further study of it continuously. The planning should be done with the idea centralized and decentralized accordingly. The integration of urban and rural areas should be given enough attention. The compact design should be encouraged in the construction project. More space should be remained for the sustainable development, especially in the densely populated urban areas.
